Ava's New Bike!

Yes, Todd got a new bike...or is that Ava's???

She loves to ride her new princess bike up and down the street and can actually do it. We learned the hard way not to buy a bike too big for your kid in the hopes that they will grow into it instead of out of it. It's made it harder for Ethan to get into riding his bike though, over a year later...he is actually doing a pretty good job of riding without training wheels! Good job Ethan! (I really need to take a picture of this:)

Cute litte bike. What a big girl. I'm impressed that Ethan is riding with out training wheels. Is that the norm for his age? I don't really know this stuff yet. Either way it sounds like a big deal to me. And as a side note...Todd better be careful. Doesn't he watch AFV. There is always a dad on his kids bike and it never turns out well (smile).

i think they actually do it earlier than he is...he's not very good yet. The bike is a little too tall for him so starting, stopping and falling scare him to death. My advice to you is buy a small bike so they can touch the ground easily with their feet - this lessons the fear and they learn to ride easily...I'm sure it would translate over to a whole lot easier to a larger bike later.

Boys do learn faster than girls I think. Madison was a big wimp so she just finally got it around Christmas but that was because we gave her no choice. Drake I think will be going no training in the next few months. Hint: take the kids to the park and have them ride in the grass so if they fall it does not hurt. Madison got it in five minutes after we let her loose in the grass.

Wow you two are full of bike riding tips. Corbin just rides a big wheel. Should he have a real bike by now? (he's 3 1/2). He's older than Ava isn't he? Are we slacker parents who are stunting our boys development?!? (smile).

Yes, he's older (Ava turned 3 in December). We didn't get one for Ethan until his 4th birthday and he's still not really into riding it - he doesn't like it all that much. Ava had some Christmas money and she expressed an interest...so there you have it.

He reminds me so much of MAX! All I can say is, watch out! What a cutie.

As far as this discussion on bicycles, I'll add my great experience of late. Justin was 5 when he learned to ride a 'two wheeler' and loves riding it! However, he has recently wanted to ride his trike again????? His legs practically hit the handle bars--and it seems to be an awful lot of work to make it go forward. But our last two outings, he has insisted on taking the trike. I can only figure that his extremely cautious nature is coming out or it just reminds him of Oakley.
