Todd has been working in San Diego as of late, so we surprised the kids and went out Thursday afternoon to meet him and stay overnight. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Karl Strauss' where, I believe, we had the only kids in the place. This particular location is nestled right in the middle of San Diego's tech center...so it was all business clientele. Thankfully it was loud enough that no one really noticed us!
The next morning we took the kids to Sea World (thank you to Jody for the free tickets!!). Now, in all my 34 years and after having lived in So Cal for most of them...I have never been to Sea World. So, this was my first visit to see Shamu along with my children. I have to say - I did not expect to feel so much emotion watching these magnificent animals and their interaction with their trainers and the audience! It was truly amazing! I had goosebumps and even a bit of "water coming out of my eyes" :)! I honestly wished I could go back in time, rethink my course of study, become a really good swimmer, and be that trainer out there with the killer whales. Talk about loving your job!
We took in a few shows, got drenched in the front row by the dolphins, handled the starfish,
saw a bunch of really cool animals up close, and fed the bat rays. This was pretty dang cool! Their big lips suck the fish (and your fingers) right up! What a cool feeling that was and what amazing animals!
Anyway, Sea World was a hit and we'll be back for another visit very soon.

I so want to take Daylen to Sea World. Ty and I are highly thinking about it. It's a toss up between the Zoo and Sea World.
