Shop Till You Drop...

Honestly, I'm tired of being sick. I hate that I have the "coughing" illness. It's the kind of cold I dread more than all others. I can't sleep at night, I wake up coughing uncontrollably in the morning, and I have ridiculous coughing fits at random times in the middle of the day. Monday Todd decided to take a sick day for me. He made me promise to go shopping. His cousin Matt is getting married July 19th and I need something to wear. I agreed and then I went back to sleep for 3 hours after breakfast. I guess I really needed the sick day.

Around 3pm I headed out to do some shopping. I went to an outdoor mall and walked into every store that would possibly sell dresses. They are so many out there right now...unfortunately very few modest enough for me to wear even with adjustments and layering. It's so disheartening to shop sometimes. I even went with the mindset that price was not an obstacle. At least this way I would try on anything and everything.

I settled, for the moment, on a dress from Banana Republic. It is orange....a very vibrant orange! Now, I am a red head and I do have some autumn coloring but I never embrace the orange tones in my features...in fact, I typically hide them. It was going WAY outside of my comfort zone to buy a dress so bold and eye-catching. The color is gorgeous! It's so saturating and the silk moves so beautifully. For $130 I really have to love it. I'm still pretty insecure. I need friends to weigh in so hopefully I'll have some time to show it off and make my decision. Now comes the hardest part for me...accessorizing. I need shoes and jewelry. Help! And I'm pretty sure I will have to have my makeup and hair done too. I think I might even need psychotherapy before I can pull off wearing a dress as brilliant as this one.

It looks cute. I would talk to Liz about the other accessories...she is good at that.

The dress is beautiful! You can totally pull it off. But I do understand having a hard time being out of your comfort zone. Have fun!

I just had the same experience shopping for an dress. When did everything go short again? I too ended up buying something at Banana Republic. I guess next time we should just start there.

I love the orange. I think it will look great on you.

So cute! If it's a "garden wedding" don't wear anything with spiky heals they stick into the grass. Wear wedges or flats so that you don't have to walk on your tip toes all day long. Don't forget sunblock either. i too love the color. Embrace your gorgeous hair! Teach your kids how sexy red heads can be! Melissa
